MONUMENTAL BRASS RUBBINGS

All the rubbings in this gallery are hand rubbed from actual replicas of the original brass engravings found in many medieval churches in England. The brass plates are usually found between stone flags in the isles of a sanctuary or tucked away in a corner over a vault marking the burial place of a notable character of the local parish. Each rubbing has a full description of the person and their associated history. They make a great wall hanging and an interesting conversation piece. There are brass rubbing centres in Brittain such as in Westminster Abbey where you can choose a replica and make your own rubbing. I have a number of replicas of various sizes and styles here in Asheville where you can also make your own rubbing. I also carry children's brass rubbing kits which make a unique gift. Take a look at the images on the following page and let me know if you have any questions.
